You are welcome to another Bible success principles post on this page. Last week, I promised to continue that topic I titled “Don’t Stop Succeeding”. I read from the “Fig Tree” story in the Bible and I told you that Jesus actually cursed this Fig tree for an important reason. I will be discussing this great reason today.
“And seeing a Fig tree afar off having leaves, He came, if perhaps He might find anything thereon: and when He came to it, He found nothing but leaves: for the time of figs was not yet” Mark 11:13
Last week I quoted Matthew 21:18-22, which has this same fig tree story but did not give us a reason why the fig tree had no fruits on it. Mark 11:13 (quoted above) however has a reason and this is … “for the time of figs was not yet”.
Now if the fig tree does not have fruits because it was not the time of the season when it should have them, then why did Jesus curse it?
Well I wanted an answer to this and the Holy Spirit was just available to provide an answer to me. The simple reason is that Jesus would not tolerate a Christian who allows circumstances to make himself or herself unfruitful. He believes you and I can always have a success story to tell at every point in time no matter the obstacles confronting us.
Let me explain this principle in more terms that are practical. If you have written a book and you don’t have the cash to publish it, you can take a decision to sell it as a manual or as an e-book. You can even sell the idea to someone and go ahead to write another book and publish the new book with the money you made from the sale of the first book. Even if you can’t do any of the above, don’t just sit there crying over your inability to publish your book. You can take a decision to write more and more books and when the time to publish comes, you will just have enough books to publish and sell.
Remember I told you Jesus cursed the fig tree for not producing fruits even when it was not the season for figs. Jesus believes you and I must not have excuses to lay unproductive. There is always what you can do and profit from at every point in time no matter the obstacles confronting you.
I hope you have learnt a great deal from this Bible success principle. Remember that the principles that I share on this blog will not do you any good if you are outside the ONE who is the source of these success secrets – JESUS. Please ask Jesus into your life today if you are yet to know HIM!
