Fear Is Not A Sin!

You are welcome to this page today. I asked a very important question the other time I posted on this blog. I wanted to know whether anytime we put a fearful attitude towards a project or towards any other venture just as Gideon did from the story we have in the Bible in the book of Judges 6; we have sinned against God.

Sin is disobedience to God’s rules and regulations. When you then allow fear to direct affairs in your life, are you going against God’s instructions?

I want us to look at the story of Job in the Bible:

“And the Lord said unto satan. Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a blameless and an upright man, one that fears God and turns away from evil?
                                               Job 1: 8 (KJ2000)

I have quoted God’s great statement about the person of Job. God says he is blameless and upright. If God says it, then that is exactly what it is.

Job detests evil. He hates going against God’s rules.

Now I want us to go to Job 3:25

“For the thing which I greatly feared has come upon me, and that which I was afraid of has come upon me”

Job made the statement above under inspiration. He, though blameless and upright, has been living his entire life in the “cage of fear”! He rightly pointed out that the things he feared has come upon him.

Job, a blameless and upright man had great fear of the future! God declared him upright and blameless even though He knew he (Job) had been living his entire life in fear! If you agree with what I have just mentioned, then you will understand that fear is not actually a sin. God did not see it as a sin in the life of Job and He does not see it as sin in your own life too.

However, God hates it when you live in the “cage of fear”. He allowed those trials to come upon Job so that fear can be eliminated from his life!

Great fear in your life can ultimately make you begin to belittle God and His powers in your life. Gideon almost got God angry at his many excuses. Job offers sacrifices on a daily basis for his children as if it is his sacrifices that has been keeping his children alive.

Fear is not a sin but it can really prevent you from experiencing the awesome powers of God in your life if you keep yourself in its “cage”.
