God Created The Darkness To Destroy The Darkness
Welcome to today’s post on the series, “Why God Created Darkness”. So far, I have discussed many reasons why God allows “darkness” in the lives of Christians. You should refer to previous posts for more explanations.
I am sure today’s title must have startled you. How can God create darkness to destroy darkness?
Let me remind you of the story of the children of Israel They were freed from bondage in Egypt by God to possess the Promised Land. They however got to the Promised Land, forgot about God and start worshiping the gods of their neighbors. God did not like this and He created “darkness” to torment them – they were displaced and taken captive to Babylon to learn the lessons of their lives.
Let me allow prophet Habakkuk to take over this story from here:
“I am raising up the Babylonian, that ruthless and impetuous people to sweep across the whole earth to seize dwelling places not their own” Habakkuk 1:6 (NIV)
God raised representatives of darkness – the Babylonians to take His children captive!
Habakkuk was surprised and wanted to know why God would do this:
“Why then do you tolerate the treacherous? Why are you silent while the wicked (“darkness”) swallow up those more righteous (Christians) than themselves? Habakkuk 1:13 (NIV)
Habakkuk decided to wait for God’s reasons (this should be your first reaction when you face unpalatable situations in your life – try to hear from God):
I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts. I will look to see what He will say to me…” Habakkuk 2:1 (NIV)
Then God answered and gave His reasons:
“Then the Lord replied…” Habakkuk 2:2 (NIV)
I will be rounding up this article in my next post. Please be on the look out.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Prophet Habakkuk was confident to go to God for answers to his many questions. Can you be this confident to approach God? If you are His child, you are sure to obtain answers to your questions from Him. If you are not yet His child, you are not sure to obtain these instructions!
Please take a decision to become His child by giving your life to Jesus Christ.
