How are you. I hope you have enjoyed my previous article on the personality of Jesus. Today, i will be teaching you why Jesus is the Lamb of God.
“And looking upon Jesus as He walked, he said, behold the Lamb of God!” John 1:36

John the Baptist, by divine revelation, made the statement above. He understood how Jesus was meant to come to this world to shed His blood to wash away our sins in order for us to enjoy great relationship with God almighty.

Jesus, as the Lamb of God is also part of the divine plan by God to relate with sinful man.

Now let us go down memory lane and see the significance of the use of the blood of lambs by the people in Bible days.

God showed the way in the book of Genesis 3:21 when He had to slay animals shedding their blood in the process to make Him relate with Adam and Eve after their fall in the Garden of Eden. God provided a goatskin for the couple’s cover. We have seen so many other recorded cases where the children of Israel had to slay lambs shedding their blood as sacrifice to God. This exercise was then the only way they could relate with a Holy God.

Let us read how the writer of the book of Hebrews described this old practice of the people to deal with sin:

“But only the High Priest went into the inner room, and then only once in a year, all alone and always with blood that he sprinkled on the mercy seat as an offering to God to cover his own mistakes and sins and the mistakes and sins of all the people” Hebrews 9:7(TLB)

However, this practice cannot not really sustain an enduring relationship with a Holy God. The blood of lambs and animals are just too ordinary to ensure a lasting relationship with a Holy God.

If this arrangement is imperfect and inappropriate, then that part of the divine plan that must make Jesus come as the “Lamb of God” that takes the sins of the world away must come into place. If the blood of lambs or animals is inappropriate, then the BLOOD OF JESUS (a precious Holy and sinless blood) will just be very appropriate!

Now, if the blood of ordinary animals were used in the past for the process of sanctification then the precious blood of Jesus will do far more than that.

“For if the blood of bulls and of goats sanctifies to the purfying of the flesh. How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God; purge your conscience from dead works to serve the Living God?” Hebrews 9:13 and 14

Jesus is the Lamb of God because He must shed His blood to wash away our sins, in order for us to have a perfect relationship with God. This act of Jesus is meant to purge your conscience from “dead works” and ultimately start making you to live very successful here on earth.
Please look forward to another article on this topic next week.
