Salvation first: You can’t have the Spirit of God in you, the power and the motivation that He gives if you are not a child of God by confessing Jesus as your Lord and Saviour.
Baptism with the Spirit of God: John the Baptist in Matthew 3:11 said, “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire”. After you have become a child of God through salvation, you must ask Jesus to baptize you with His Spirit. This is an equally important stage in your new faith or Christian walk. The Spirit of God comes into you to dwell. This experience comes with the evidence of speaking in tongues.
Maintain conscious and active relationship with Him: God’s Spirit comes into you to live. With this fact, you should know that He desires a day to day relationship with you. After couples come together, they must now begin to consciously relate with each other on a daily basis. This type of relationship is the one the Spirit of God wants from you after He must have come into you. The Bible tells us that as many that are led by the Spirit of God are called sons of God. He wants to lead you. He wants to be your Father. He wants a growing and healthy relationship with you.
Conscious and active relationship with Him on a daily basis will get you filled through Him on a consistent basis. You will not lack the power and motivation required to execute projects. You should read the experience of this group of Christians in the book of Acts 4:24-31. They required the power and the motivation to go on preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ despite the persecution from the people and the authority. They prayed and they were filled with the Spirit and were motivated and empowered to continue.
The Role of God’s Word: A wise man once said, “Religion helps you to be decent but Christianity helps you to help people”. When you embrace Christianity the way God’s Word prescribes it, you will always have the power and motivation to finish projects that will help the people and the society. The book of Ezra tells the story of the children of God who were returning as exiles from Babylon to Jerusalem. It was a thing of joy as they spent so many years in a foreign land under captivity.
Psalm 126:1-2 captures the feelings of these returning exiles from Babylon: “When the Lord brought back the captivity of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations, ‘The Lord has done great things for them”.
It was indeed a thing of joy as they returned to their spiritual heritage. Their main mission when they must have returned was to build the temple of God in Jerusalem that lied in ruins since the Babylonians ran over the city of Jerusalem some fifty years back. The people of God indeed embarked upon this rebuilding mission on arrival in Jerusalem until they were stopped by neighboring enemies who does not want any more progress on the project of the people of God.
The Bible says in Ezra 4:24, “Thus the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem ceased, and it was discontinued until the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia”. The power and motivation to go on died out from the lives of the people of God. The power to do in them vanished into thin air and the big project stopped for nearly 20 years!
“Then the prophet Haggai and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophets, prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem, in the name of the God of Israel, who was over them. So Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua the son of Jozadak rose up and began to build the house of God which is in Jerusalem; and the prophets of God were with them, helping them” (Ezra 5:1-2). You will observe from this passage that the decision to continue with the project of the Lord started with the ministrations of prophets Haggai and Zechariah. They ministered the Word of God unto the Jews and the power to do rose in Zerubabel and Joshua and they rose to restart the building of the house of God again.
God’s Word is a strengthener and a motivator. The Spirit of God uses this Word platform to carry out His duties of motivation, counseling, comforting and teaching the Christians. You will always be motivated to act on your projects if you expose yourself to God’s Word daily. It is the Word that you have in you that will make you rule your world with projects and ideas.
