When you begin to keep secrets
This is another red flag of a loveless marriage and family. The Bible says about Adam and Eve that they were naked and they were not ashamed.
Coupes should share secrets with each other. Coupes should be involved in discussions about any secret they know. You are not to keep things away from each other.
If you observed this is happening in your family, you should pray about it and have a discussion with your spouse to find a quick resolution to the problem. You should also take the lead by opening up to your spouse on any secret you have been keeping from him or her.
When your spouse prefers the company of another person
Another red flag of a loveless marriage or family is when your spouse prefers to stay in the company of others than staying in your company. Sometimes, you find wives feeling more comfortable with a friend or a colleague or her parents or siblings.
The same applies to husbands who prefer to stay in the company of a friend or a woman friend.
You need to pray if you notice this is happening in your family. You should let it start from you. You should understand that your spouse is your best friend.
You got married to become best of friends and tools in the hands of God to raise Godly children and to help the cause of God for this end times battles.
Take out any relationship that is coming in between you and your spouse. Sometimes, you may not be able to take some relationships out completely especially that of your parents and siblings but you should draw a line of engagement and let those people know your plans and intentions – your spouse is your best friend.
When your husband keeps late nights
This is another red flag for of a loveless marriage and family. This is particularly common with husbands.
If your husband begins to enjoy keeping late nights or spending more time at the office, you should watch out and pray. Agreed, sometimes, there may be the need for him to spend extra hours at the office but this should not be at the expense of the home front.
Consistently keeping late nights and spending long hours at the office may just indicate there is a problem somewhere which need to be fixed.
In case your husband is practicing this, you need to pray and allow the Holy Spirit of God to help you look inward. You need to see if you are the cause of this. You need to know what you have done or is doing to cause this.
Are you a contentious wife? Has your cooking suddenly turned terrible? How do you welcome your husband when he comes back from the office? Do you welcome him with nagging and fights?
Take a stock and make amends. Usually, this problem is caused by these inappropriate attitudes from wives.
12 red flags in a marriage: When you don’t study the Word of God together
Fellowshiping is important in a marriage. During family fellowship, couples and families study the Word of God together and they pray together.
This this very important period for couples to learn about God and His Word. This is as important as personal fellowship with God.
When suddenly, a spouse does not or refuse to have this type of fellowship with the other or in a family, then this is a dangerous sign.
We have witnessed many cases of how husbands, most especially, love to evade family fellowship. This is not a good sign. It does not help the unity between couples and families.
What to do? Pray about this. Then have a discussion with your spouse. You should be prepared with some scriptures to back up your discussion with your spouse.
You can suggest a new Bible study plan for you and your spouse or for the family. Sometimes, the old plan may not be working again as a result of change of jobs and other things in the family.
For example, the wife may be having issues with having to take care of more children or running the family. Sometimes, the husband may be having issues with a change of job and so on.
There is the need for flexibility here. The bottom line is that there must be stable periods where couples and families study the Word of God together. It is very important.
