These 2 lessons from the life of Nehemiah should be ones you take into the new year. If the fire of your desire, love for God, love for His kingdom, your ministry or your business has dwindled over the years or months, these two lessons from the life of Nehemiah will help to rekindle the fire before the end of the year.

Who was Nehemiah?

Nehemiah was one of the Jewish captives that was taken into Babylon from Judah. He began to work as a cupbearer for the king in the foreign land.

He was the one God used to rebuild the destroyed walls of Jerusalem and the broken down gates. The 2 lessons from his life have been picked from his execution of this divine project.

2 Lessons from the life of Nehemiah: A solid heart for God’s kingdom.

Nehemiah always win my heart with his solid and ‘firefull’ heart for God and His kingdom (God and Jerusalem).

You need to read his story of how he started and completed the walls of Jerusalem to see what I’m talking about.

I want you to check one of the many’firefull’ loyal scenes in the book of Nehemiah.

Nehemiah 1:2
[2]that Hanani one of my brethren came with men from Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews who had escaped, who had survived the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.

They came to him from Jerusalem and it was in his heart to ask about:

  • The Jews and
  •  Jerusalem

Comfortable but ready for God

Now you should understand that he was working in the palace at this period and we can say he was very comfortable. He was very close to the king of that land.

But his comfortability did not get in the way of his loyalty to God, the Jews and Jerusalem.

What about you? Are you comfortable now and things about the kingdom does not concern you again?

Do you have a ‘firefull’ heart and loyalty to God and His kingdom? If you discover you don’t have such, you can still settle issues and ask God to help you before the end of the year 2020.

Check your heartbeat for God

Bishop David Oyedepo once said, “If you want to know my secret, come and check my heartbeat for God”

Check your heartbeat for God, is it still beating in the direction of God and His kingdom?

2 lessons from the life of Nehemiah: What are you building or rebuilding in 2021?

This is the second lesson and one of the reasons why Nehemiah’s story and his completion of the walls of Jerusalem has helped me over the years.

Just look at this again:

Nehemiah 2:5
[5]And I said to the king, “If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, I ask that you send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers’ tombs, that I may rebuild it.”

He was working in the most important office in the land and for the most powerful man in the land. He had the opportunity to make a request of the king and he asked for help to complete a divine project. He did not ask for cars, houses and other material things.

He said,

Nehemiah 2:5
“If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, I ask that you send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers’ tombs, that I may rebuild it.”

What are you building for God?

What are you building or rebuilding for the Lord in the year 2021? Are you finally ready to lay your hand on your divine project?

Are you still procrastinating, giving flimsy excuses of why you are not ready despite the Lord’s several promptings that you are ready to go ahead?

You need to make one request from God before the year runs out. Tell Him to help you to start the building or rebuilding works He created you to do on this earth.

Thank God Noah built the ark; it ended up to be ‘box of safety’ that housed him and his household when the flood came. Your decision to start and complete your divine project may be the saving grace for your household for generations to come.

I am wishing you a prosperous new year in advance. God will send His help to you in Jesus name. Amen. Please let me read your comment and help to share this post with your friends on social media.

With love from the team at the Visionary Business Project.
