I was on an online Christian forum and I saw this long thread discussing what is the difference between visions and destiny. I got interested and I tried to read some of the comments on this interesting topic.
After I left the Christian forum, I had the inspiration to treat the topic of discussion (what is the difference between visions and destiny) on the forum on this blog.
Difference between visions and destiny: What is destiny?
Destiny is also called purpose. There’s a God-given destiny or purpose for every one created by God. Destiny or purpose is designed by God for everyone He created so it’s always a good one because everything God does is good.
A perfect Biblical example of a God-given destiny can be found in what God said about Jeremiah in Jeremiah 1: 5
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.
Jesu also severally voiced out His destiny and purpose during His ministry on the earth. Read one of those statements below:
John 10:10: Thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
How to discover destiny or purpose?
You can discover destiny or purpose in the following ways:
- First, you should understand that God is the One who designed purpose and destiny.
- Secondly, you must approach Him to find out why He created you and planted you on this earth. Someone said, “You don’t create destiny or purpose, you discover it instead.” You approach God via the platforms of prayer and the diligent study of the Word of God.
- Thirdly, you should be ready to accept any revelation or information He gives to you. God will respond to your prayer through revelation or through His Word.
- Lastly, you should begin to take steps on any information you receive from God. It helps you and puts you in a position to receive more revelation from God about your destiny or purpose.

The difference between visions and destiny: What is a vision?
A vision or a God-given vision is a piece of divine information or revelation from God to man. God usually passes important information across to man through visions.
Visions can be received in the following ways:
- Through a dream or night vision
- Through the Word of God as we have it in the Bible
- Through an open vision where you see a pictorial demonstration of the information God wants to pass across to you
- Through angelic visitation where you see an angel visit you to pass across God’s information to you
Just what is the difference between visions and destiny
The difference between visions and destiny is simple and very clear. God gives you a destiny or purpose. He also gives visions to you from time to time to fulfill that destiny.
You can also receive divine information about your destiny or purpose through visions. After you have discovered your God-given purpose, God begins the process of helping you to fulfill your destiny by giving you implementation ideas through visions from time to time.
Can human beings set visions?
Human beings can set visions but they can fail. Those who tried to build the tower of Babel in the Bible set their own vision but it failed. It is safe to allow God to give you a vision about your destiny or purpose and visions from time to time to fulfill your destiny.
However, let me inform you that you have a chance to think up implementation ideas that are not illegal or ungodly or harmful to any human beings to execute visions given to you by God. That’s what He gave you a mind and a brain to do.
