Gospel drama ministers and technology in Nigeria is a topic I looked critically into in an online forum on Facebook.

I wan happy I wrote a beautiful comment and insight that caught lots or people’s attention.

I am presenting my views here unedited. I believe you will gain some values from this.

Gospel drama ministers and technology in Nigeria

In the first place, why should Gospel drama ministers begin to leverage technology, social media, the internet and even the new bride on the block – Artificial intelligence?

The answer is simple. If we want to truly take the gospel to the ends of the earth, these technological tools have proven to be worthy tools that can really help us.

Some Gospel drama ministers and pulpit ministers who have embraced this simple truth have really reached lots of souls for Christ all over the world.

In our organization, we have really done so much in this aspect and we are still reaching out to do more. And we will be God’s grace.

But this post is not about us but about Gospel drama ministers and even pulpit or music ministers who want to leverage these technological tools to reach out to a massive audience all over the world.

Just as I mentioned earlier in this post, I will be presenting my comments and advice to gospel ministers on this very important topic.

Gospel drama ministers and technology: The reason for the comment

Well, my comment on the social platform was provoked by how many gospel ministers are not building their own online platforms but relying solely on some established platforms like Facebook and YouTube only.

It’s great to use these two giants but it’s not safe if we don’t have our own websites, social platforms, blogs etc that we can call.our own where we can always call the shots.

Let us look at the comment below unedited.

Why Gospel drama ministers must have their own websites and blogs

What happens when we don’t create, nurture and build our own platforms online. Facebook, YouTube, Instagram etc can change their policies anytime. They own their platforms anyway so no one can question them.

It’s just what Amazon has been doing to lots of African authors of late – blocking and  terminating their accounts.

Google have always used their updates to shatter the hopes and many years work of many businesses who rely solely on them. AI is not even helping matters today. But a wise website owner will learn to build his or her own list of customers or potential customers.

Facebook has become very terrible over the years now. They can bring up a change that can crash many years of work of creators.

Can we blame these companies? No. We can’t. They are in business to make money and profits.

I see lots of gospel drama ministers make this mistake. They over rely on these platforms without nurturing their own platforms. Building their own community of fans on a platform they have complete control over.

What is yours is yours.

Your brand is still not complete until you have your own personal or corporate representation online.

I have to write this long to sensitize creators. We can continue to work with these established platforms but we should always leverage them to build our own platforms etc.

Response to a member of the forum on Gospel ministers owning their platforms

I am presenting below a response from me to a member of the social platform on the same topic below:

Thank you for your comment:

1. First and foremost is a website of our own. Your website is your own office online. You own it. You control it. If Facebook etc ban you, you can still have your website to fall on.

It’s rather not too good that most of our Gospel drama ministers don’t have a website of their own. As you put contents on Facebook and YouTube etc, you should be linking to your website. Leveraging on theese platforms to build traffic to your website.

2. If you have a website, you can build a list of email subscribers. People who come to your website can subscribe and become part of your audience that you can always contact at any time. Almost all these platforms get in touch with us through our emails.

So if Facebook or Google algorithms are misbehaving, you can reach out to your email lists with your programs and contents.

3. Replicas of these popular platforms like Facebook, YouTube, etc. I know this will cost more money but I believe our established Gospel ministries should be thinking along this direction.

What about a mount Zion having a gospel social media like Facebook or Instagram. Before Amazon and Smashwords became troublesome we started our own online bookstore in Nigeria. So when they began to fumble we had something to fall upon.

These replicas may not have the big stature of the popular social media platforms but we can leverage them to build a replica that will be solely for the gospel or that will not be anti gospel.

As we have it today, YouTube and Facebook only need to have a non-Christian or an atheist executive and a lot can happen to channels streaming or publishing gospel dramas.

4. A Gospel movie streaming app of our own. This is also a project some of the established Gospel drama ministries can undertake.

And so on.

For every effort and every contents we publish on these popular platforms we help to improve their profits. Really I don’t have any problem about that.

It’s business and we want them to make profits but we can ensure we also leverage them to build platforms we can own and which can’t be affected by any anti-gospel policy at any time.

The Lord will help us in Jesus name. Amen.

Please let me read your comment and please share this post with your friends.
