Achieving Christian greatness does not come on a platter of gold. Christians must understand this basic fact and truth. Just because you have surrendered your life to Jesus Christ and you have become a Christian does not make you become a success or achieve Christian greatness overnight on this earth.

What does achieving Christian greatness mean?
To achieve Christian greatness requires the following:
- Surrendering your life to Christ and confess Him as your Lord and Saviour.
- Settle down to start studying His Word as we have it in the Bible so that you can begin to understand what is required of you to be a success on this earth.
- Ask Jesus Christ to baptize you with His Spirit and begin to allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you.
- Discover your God-given purpose and get down to work on it as He begins to instruct and direct you.
- Work and work and work your way to the top. God will not pamper your laziness because you are Christian or His child. Jesus worked so you must work out your salvation with fear and trembling.
- Avoid sin and stay closer to God every day of your life.
- Begin to expect the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. This will help you to stay on course.
How Jesus taught achieving Christian greatness
The mother of two of the disciples of Jesus Christ (the Zebedee brothers) once approached Jesus Christ and requested that her children be put in a great position in God’s kingdom. She wanted the best place for her children in heaven.
This Godly woman surely had a good intention though her request was born out of ignorance. Jesus did not rebuke her but helped her, her children, other disciples and us to understand that heaven does not give out greatness to people that way – it must be earned through service.
Jesus said, “Not so shall it be among you; but whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant, And whoever desires to be first among you must be your slave. ” Matthew 20:26-27 (AMP).

Christians are in the service business
Achieving Christian greatness requires you to be deeply in the service business. Don’t ever desire greatness if you are not ready to be a servant. Even Jesus took up service as a serious business when He was here on the earth. In God’s kingdom, service is the sure pathway to greatness.
